(India)
United Board Fellow, 2006-2008

Lilian Jasper is a Reader in the English Department at Women’s Christian College in Chennai, India.

“I have been experimenting with a variety of teaching methods which I have been exposed to in De La Salle University and Randolph College.  For instance, I have started a new undergraduate course called “Ecoliterature” for which there has been an overwhelming response from the students. Based on the Ecology courses that I attended in Randolph College, I have incorporated a lot of practical components for the students. Recently I took them to Pallikaranai Marsh and Crocodile Bank so that they could experience the ecological degradation first hand. Some of them have become very interested and on their own have signed up for beach cleaning and for volunteering at the Crocodile Bank.

“Earlier, I would wait for opportunities to come my way, now I try to create opportunities for my students.  I would like to immensely thank United Board for all its help in transforming me into a confident and able leader and teacher.”
