Father Bienvenido F. Nebres, S.J.

Father Bienvenido F. Nebres, S.J. is a scientist, mathematician, and Jesuit who served as President of the Ateneo de Manila University. Currently, he is a member of the boards of trustees of Georgetown University, Ateneo de Iloilo, Synergeia Foundation. He is Chairman of the Center for Leadership and Change. He was also Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines. He is a member of the Board of Gawad Kalinga, an organization that builds homes and communities for the poorest of the poor.

Father Nebres was founding president of the Mathematical Society of the Philippines (1972).  He was one of the founding officers of the Southeast Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS) and served as its president (1977-1978). He was one of the founders of the consortium of leading universities in Manila, which developed PhD programs in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

Father Nebres has served as chair of the Technical Panel on Science and Mathematics of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) since its inception, and also chairs the CHED Technical Working Group for faculty development. At present, he chairs the Project Advisory Group of the CHED Philippines-California Advanced Research Institute (PCARI) project.
