Budi Widianarko is professor of Food Ecology & Safety (since 2002) at Soegijapranata Catholic University (UNIKA), Semarang, Indonesia, where he has been serving for 26 years. In addition to his academic functions, he has served as Rector (2009-2018), Vice Rector for Development and Cooperation (2000-2005), and Dean of Faculty of Agricultural Technology (1995-2000). He has also been actively involved in several nongovernmental organizations (NGOS) at local, national, and international levels, such as The Water Dialogues (International Working Group Member, 2005-2008); Research and Community Service Network of the Indonesian Association of Catholic Higher Education Institutions (JLPMA-APTIK) (Coordinator, 2012-2016); Research Council of Central Java (Member, since 2000); Advisory Council of Semarang City’s Development (Member, since 2015); Obor Tani Foundation, a farmer empowerment NGO (Member of Board of Trustees, since 2008); Purba Danarta Foundation,  microfinance NGO (Chairperson of Board of Trustees, since 2016); and Bintari Foundation, an environmental NGO (Member of Board of Trustees, since 2008).
