Micro-Credential Initiative
The United Board is developing a new micro-credentials initiative to support whole person education and academic innovation across its network institutions in Asia. This emerging effort aims to build a flexible framework for short, focused learning experiences that complement existing academic programs while strengthening faculty development and student skills formation.
Drawing on promising practice from Silliman University in the Philippines, the initiative will explore how micro-credentials can be adapted in diverse country contexts and implemented collaboratively across the region.
Interested institutions will be invited into a “think tank” process to design country-specific roadmaps and identify areas where micro-credentials can most effectively enhance teaching, learning, and employability. A pilot phase will introduce one or two micro-courses to help participants experience the potential of micro-credentialing and inform the development of a broader framework.
More information will be available on this page as the initiative matures.
