David Johns, PhD

Consultant, Leadership Development and Regional Engagement
David Johns has served as Consultant, Leadership Development and Regional Engagement since January 2026 and is based in the United Board’s Chiang Mai office. His work focuses on leadership development, regional engagement, and cross-cultural program design. He is closely involved with theological and leadership initiatives including the Institute for Advanced Study in Asian Cultures and Theologies (IASACT) and the Asian Academy for Campus Ministry (AACM) and he also contributes to the United Board Fellows Program.
David is a theologian whose work centers on ethics, culture, and interfaith issues. His approach to leadership formation is grounded in theological reflection, moral discernment, and whole person education. He brings extensive international experience to his work, including long-term teaching and scholarly work in Latin America as a visiting scholar in Mexico, and a sustained commitment to intercultural and multifaith engagement in diverse academic and religious contexts.
Prior to joining the United Board, David served as a faculty member, senior academic officer, and college president.
