Dr. Kah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan

Dr. Kuan is an ordained clergy of The United Methodist Church. He previously served as President of the Association of United Methodist Theological Schools and Chair of the Commission on Theological Education of the University Senate of The United Methodist Church. He currently serves on the boards of In Trust Center for Theological Schools, United Methodist Higher Education Foundation, and International Association of Methodist-related Schools, Colleges and Universities.
Dr. Kuan is President Emeritus, Professor of Hebrew Bible, and Chief Strategy Office at the Claremont School of Theology in Los Angeles, California. Before going to Claremont School of Theology, he was Dean of the Theological School of Drew University, becoming the first Asian American to lead a mainline theological school in the United States. He earned his Ph.D. in Old Testament studies at Emory University. His research and teaching interests include ancient Israelite and Near Eastern history, Asian and Asian American hermeneutics, as well as approaches to biblical instruction theological education and is passionately committed to justice issues in the global and local contexts.
