Shiranee Mills is the Executive Director of the Women’s Education and Research Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English and Western Classical Culture from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.  Ms. Mills holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and a Licentiate (Voice) from the Trinity College of Music, London.  She worked as a Development Advisor of the Sri Lanka program of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and as Gender Specialist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) based in the Sri Lanka Resident Mission. Serving as principal of Uduvil Girls’ College—known to be the first residential boarding school established in 1824—was also a significant milestone in her career.
