Dr. Allen John Freddy

As a faculty member with over 14 years of work experience (since June 2011) at Madras Christian College, I believe that a leader is the backbone of any institution and a position which requires a temperament to navigate complex situations with prudence. The Fellows Program for me would be a great platform to interact with great minds, to learn, to hone my skills and equip myself through structured leadership training, global exposure, and mentorship from eminent educators.”

Dr. Allen J. Freddy, Ph.D., is a zoologist and academic leader currently serving as Deputy Controller of Examinations and Associate Director of the School of Continuing Education at Madras Christian College, Chennai. He holds a Ph.D. from North Eastern Hill University, along with degrees in Zoology and Medical Laboratory Technology. His research spans molecular biology, cancer epigenetics, oxidative stress, and metabolic disease, with experience as a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University Medical Center and extensive funding support from India’s Department of Science and Technology. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and edited volumes, including work on cancer biology, gut microbiome effects on metabolism, and RNA regulation. His career includes leadership in teaching Medical Laboratory Technology and Zoology for over a decade, coordination of academic programs, and examination administration, along with international and national training in molecular biology, flow cytometry, and biosciences.

Dr. Maredil R. Ambos

Dr. Maredil Rafael Ambos is a Professor and Officer-in-Charge Dean of the College of Education at Central Philippine University and an adjunct professor in its Graduate School. He previously served as the Bachelor of Elementary Education Program Head, the Professional Education Subject Coordinator, and a Computer High School teacher for 15 years, demonstrating strong leadership in curriculum and instructional development. Dr. Ambos has authored and co-authored books, modules, and research articles widely utilized in teacher education and professional training programs. Beyond academia, he actively leads community outreach initiatives that have benefited thousands of children and youth. Since 2005, he has also served as an accreditor for the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities–Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI), contributing his expertise to institutional accreditation, academic evaluation, and the continuous improvement of educational standards.

Dr. Mark Anthony Dayot Abenir

I also hope to gain skills in cross-cultural leadership, data-driven decision making, and digital transformation leadership to support my colleagues in the ethically responsible deployment of artificial intelligence for teaching and research, and community engagement activities.”

Dr. Mark Anthony D. Abenir is an Associate Professor of Development Studies and the Service-Learning Program Manager at Ateneo de Manila University. A practitioner-scholar, he integrates service-learning as a core pedagogical approach in his courses on Community Development and Social Change, Project Management, Development Field School, and Sustainable Development. He also serves as Section Co-Editor of the International Journal of Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE). Dr. Abenir’s expertise is in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of participatory, people-centered, gender-responsive, and rights-based community, social welfare, and poverty reduction programs. His research interests include service-learning and community engagement in higher education, grassroots social and community development, children and youth empowerment, and disaster risk reduction and resilience. He holds a doctoral degree in Social Development and a master’s degree in Community Development, both with a specialization in Social Development Planning and Administration.

Dr. Anam Muzamill

I am currently serving as Head of Academic Advising Center at FCCU, and I cater to the academic needs of diverse student body where my team and I constantly lead, plan and execute various student support initiatives. The United Board Fellows Program is an opportunity for me to learn from the best global practices about student development and transformative education models.

Dr. Anam Muzamill serves as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Academic Advising Center at Forman Christian College University (FCCU) in Lahore, Pakistan. In this role, she oversees student advising services, policy development, and curriculum review to support student success. She received the Faculty Excellence Award for her contributions to teaching and academic advising. Dr. Muzamill earned her Ph.D. in crime programming and risk perception from the University of the Punjab. She has taught as visiting faculty at the University of the Punjab, University of Central Punjab, and the National College of Arts. Her research examines media, crime, and risk, with a focus on risk communication and journalism ethics. She has also worked on interdisciplinary projects related to healthcare and social literacy. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences on topics such as political marketing, disaster communication, and gender-based digital storytelling. She has published research on media, food crime, and risk perception in peer-reviewed journals.

Ms. Aye Min Khaing

“I want to participate in this program to learn from other fellow colleagues, to gain global perspectives on how institutions are coping for the sustainability of their university among many challenges. I wish to learn how other Asian leaders sustain the ‘whole-person’ philosophy during times of transition. I am specifically looking to sharpen my skills in strategic institutional management and its resilience by learning how to manage a research center and also the holistic needs of a students’ body which is facing many challenges.”

Ms. Aye Min Khaing has served the Myanmar Institute of Theology for nearly 15 years and currently serves as Dean of Students for the Liberal Arts Program and Director of the Center for Multi-Disciplinary Advancement. Her leadership has included Community Development, Graduate Studies, and Student Affairs. She holds graduate degrees in Development Management from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and Peace Studies from the Myanmar Institute of Theology. Committed to youth empowerment, development, and peacebuilding, she has managed external grants supporting research scholarships and service-learning initiatives.

Dr. Jinhwan Oh is a tenured Full Professor and Chair of the Graduate Department of International Studies at Ewha Womans University in Seoul. An economist specializing in international trade and development, he previously taught at the International University of Japan and has directed research institutes at Ewha. He earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University and has published widely on trade, aid effectiveness, and sustainable development, with consulting experience for organizations including the World Bank, UNESCAP, and KOICA.

Dr. Agustina Setiawati is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sanata Dharma University, Indonesia. She completed her PhD in Life Science at Sogang University in South Korea. Her research focuses on tissue engineering and biomaterials, particularly chitosan-based composite materials for bone regeneration, wound healing, and regenerative medicine. She leads and publishes research in these areas and actively supervises undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory and thesis work. In addition to her academic work, she contributes to scholarly publishing and quality assurance through her role in the university’s scientific journal center and serves as a reviewer and editor for academic journals and conferences, while representing her institution in international scientific forums.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Ha Ni

“The Program offers an ideal environment to strengthen my leadership capacity and engage with a diverse community of higher education practitioners across Asia. I hope to deepen my understanding of emerging trends in higher education and explore how Whole Person Education and interdisciplinary approaches can enhance curriculum design, teacher professional development, and institutional strategies in Vietnam. I am particularly interested in developing competencies in strategic leadership, research-informed decision-making, and regional collaboration—skills essential for leading sustainable improvement in fast-changing educational contexts.”

Dr. Nguyen Thi Ha Ni holds a PhD in Education from the University of Leeds and specializes in education policy, curriculum development, and teacher professional development. She has published widely, authored the 2025 textbook Education and Globalisation, and served as Guest Editor for a leading education journal. Her current research focuses on doctoral supervision and institutional improvement. She translates global pedagogical thought into the Vietnamese context through teaching, research, and translation of key educational texts, with a strong commitment to advancing Whole Person Education and institutional capacity-building.

“Through the Fellowship, I aim to develop three key competencies: (1) a global perspective and cross-cultural leadership, to better lead in an increasingly internationalized academic environment by learning from diverse higher education models and leadership approaches in Asia; (2) strategic institutional leadership, to enhance my ability to design and implement long-term strategies, manage complex change, and steer academic units; and (3) innovation in whole person education, to engage deeply with holistic educational frameworks that integrate ethics, spirituality, and community, and to explore how these can be embedded in faculty development and evaluation systems.”

Dr. Sijia Li is Deputy Director of the Human Resources Office at Nanjing University, where he comprehensively oversees faculty and staff training, performance evaluation, and promotion. Previously, he served as Deputy Director of the Suzhou Campus Development Office for three years, contributing to the planning and development of the university’s new campus. Prior to that, he spent 12 years in student affairs management across two schools, including academic advising and student development. His interdisciplinary background and diverse administrative roles have shaped his perspective on higher education management, enabling him to approach institutional challenges with a balanced, cross-functional mindset. He views the United Board Fellows Program as a valuable opportunity to collaborate with international peers and institutional leaders on transformative leadership and holistic education, and to bring back insights that will contribute to the advancement of Asian higher education.

Dr. Josua Tarigan is Associate Professor and Dean of the School of Business and Management at Petra Christian University in Indonesia. He completed his PhD in Organizational Development at Assumption University in Thailand. His research interests focus on strategic management, sustainability, and corporate performance. He has led and contributed to funded research and training initiatives, including programs supported by DAAD and international partners, and has published extensively in the areas of ESG, corporate governance, and financial performance. In addition to his academic work, he has held key administrative roles, including head of accounting programs at Petra Christian University, and brings experience in industry consulting and international academic collaboration.

Dr. Yun-Chia Tang

Dr. Yun‑Chia Tang is a Professor in the Department of International Business and Deputy Director of the EMBA Program at Tunghai University, Taiwan. Trained in marketing and technology management, he earned his PhD from National Tsing Hua University and has built a distinguished academic career focused on technology marketing, service innovation, and digital and social media marketing. An award‑winning scholar and educator, Dr. Tang has published extensively in leading international journals, received multiple national research and teaching honors, and actively contributes to the academic community through editorial and reviewer service. In his leadership and teaching, he is committed to advancing whole‑person education, curriculum innovation, and the integration of ethical and human‑centered perspectives into business education.

Ms. Eben Angel Pauline

Over the years, my role has evolved from classroom teaching to academic leadership, mentoring faculty and students, and contributing to institutional growth. I have also attended a few programs supported by United Board, which were highly enriching and directly applicable to my work environment. These experiences strengthened my teaching practices, leadership approach, and commitment to mission-driven education, motivating me to seek deeper engagement through the Fellows Program.

Ms. Eben Angel Pauline is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Information Technology at Women’s Christian College, Chennai, where she has been teaching since 2009. She provides academic and administrative leadership to the department, supporting curriculum planning, quality teaching–learning practices, and student development. Currently pursuing her Ph.D., her academic interests focus on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence to enhance accessibility, integrating innovation with ethics, compassion, and social responsibility. She is deeply committed to faith‑rooted, holistic education and values collaborative platforms that strengthen institutional leadership, inclusive pedagogy, and the mission of Christian higher education.

Dr. Janet Sabina Xavier is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Stella Maris College, where she has been on the faculty since 2018. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, with research focused on the computational design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of anticancer agents, and earned her M.Phil. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from Loyola College, Chennai. With nearly two decades of teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, Dr. Xavier teaches a wide range of courses including organic, inorganic, physical, bioorganic, and pharmaceutical chemistry. She is an active researcher with publications in leading peer‑reviewed journals. Her work is guided by a strong commitment to whole person education, student leadership development, and the cultivation of responsible citizenship that contributes to social change.

Dr. Phan Thi Thanh Huyen

“In the Faculty of Foreign Languages, I had worked with Dean Tran Thi Thanh Hue, who was a 2022-2023 United Board Fellow trying to introduce the philosophy of Whole Person Education (WPE) to our Faculty members and students. Recognizing the values of WPE, I have continued this effort since 2023 when serving as an acting dean and then dean of this faculty. It takes time to translate WPE philosophy into everyday practice, but we have achieved several modest outcomes. In particular, I have led the curriculum development team to revise English-major and general English (for other majors) curricula so that students could develop not only language proficiency but also critical thinking, ethical reflection, learner autonomy, and a sense of responsibility to their communities. Such learning objectives are integrated into courses such as Lifelong Learning Skills, Service Learning, Cross-cultural Communication, and Cultures of ASEAN Countries. I also link my research on learner autonomy and WPE directly to classroom practice and to outreach with school teachers, so that our work can benefit both university and school students.”

Dr. Phan Thị Thanh Huyền is the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at An Giang University, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She completed her PhD in Education at The University of Queensland, Australia. Her research interests center around language learning and teaching, learner autonomy, and language-in-education policy. She has served as principal investigator and project manager for funded studies on developing learner autonomy among teacher students and assessing English majors’ autonomy in language learning and has also contributed as co-investigator to projects on workforce adaptability and migration-related issues in the Mekong Delta. In addition to teaching and research, she has held administrative and program leadership roles, including Dean/Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Director/Acting Director of the Center for Foreign Languages at An Giang University.

Dr. Joseph Raj Ebenezar Immanuel is an Associate Professor at the Department of Botany and Deputy Controller of Examinations at The American College in Madurai, India, with nearly two decades of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Madras, where his research focused on plant pathology and biological pest control, and has built a distinguished career combining scientific scholarship with institutional service.

Currently serving as Head of the Undergraduate Department of Botany, he oversees academic programs and leads a team of faculty, while also contributing to college-wide administration through roles in examination management, accreditation (NAAC), and national academic initiatives such as the Academic Bank of Credits. His research spans microbial biotechnology and sustainable agriculture, with multiple peer-reviewed publications on biocontrol agents and environmentally sustainable disease management in crops.

Recognized for both his academic contributions and public engagement—including awards for excellence in teaching and service on biodiversity initiatives—Dr. Joseph Raj Ebenezar Immanuel exemplifies a commitment to innovation, student mentorship, and the advancement of science in service of society.

Dr. Mona Jaqueline Mendonca

Dr. Mona Jaqueline Mendonca is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of History at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, India. She has more than 17 years of experience in teaching and research, complemented by a decade of professional experience as a soft-skills trainer and motivational speaker. Throughout her academic career, she has organized and facilitated numerous workshops and orientation programs for both faculty members and students to strengthen leadership capacities. She earned her Ph.D. in History, with her doctoral research focusing on the significant contributions of women missionaries to education and social transformation in Coastal Karnataka. At present, she is supervising three doctoral candidates. The United Board Fellows Program to her is an important forum for the exchange of best practices, academic collaboration, and discussions on emerging developments in higher education.

Dr. Vimal George Kurian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce at CMS College Kottayam (Autonomous), Kerala, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Commerce from the University of Madras. Beyond the classroom, where he teaches Quantitative Techniques, Econometrics and Operations research, he serves as a research supervisor, guiding scholars in exploring market volatility and sustainable finance. He is also the co-author of several academic texts and has also published research papers in reputed journals. He was previously the Head of the Department of Commerce, also the Director of Centre for Career Guidance and Placements and currently heading the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college.

Dr. Shazma Massey Azeem

Dr. Shazma Massey Azeem is a Professor and Chairperson, Department of Chemistry at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), Lahore, Pakistan. With over two decades of experience in academia, she has held key leadership roles, including Chairperson since 2023 and MPhil Program Coordinator (2017–2023). She earned her PhD from Government College University, Lahore in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, UK. Her teaching interests are Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, and she has received the Outstanding Teacher Award twice. Her research focuses on biopolymers, wound healing, and tissue engineering. She has published widely, secured HEC-funded projects, mentored numerous BS, MPhil, and PhD students, and presented internationally at ACS 251 National Meeting (2016) and Pittcon (2018, 2020, 2026) in the USA. She has also participated in academic workshops in Bulgaria, Greece, and Australia, contributing to global collaboration and academic development. As Chairperson, she has led curriculum development, organized conferences, and built industry collaborations.

Dr. Michael Moses T is an academician at the School of Engineering and Technology, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), serving as the Coordinator for the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering. With over a decade of experience in higher education, he has contributed extensively to teaching, academic administration, curriculum design, and initiatives that promote holistic learning for students. His academic interests include Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Image Processing, Brain–Computer Interfaces, Emotional Intelligence, and Affective Computing. His work focuses on emerging technologies and interdisciplinary research that bridges computing with human-centered applications. In his current role, he plays an active part in Strategic planning, Quality Assurance, faculty development, and fostering collaborations that strengthen research, industry engagement, and student opportunities within the department.

Dr. Khanmar Shamwela

Dr. Khanmar Shamwela is a Professor at Kachin Theological College and Seminary (KTCS), Nawng Nang, Myanmar. Currently, he is serving as a Dean of the College and Liberal Arts Program (CLAP) and Head of the Education Department at KTCS. He has done several education research papers during and after his Ph.D. studies at Silliman University, Philippines. His research works focus on implementing Whole Person Education in Christian higher institutions in Asia. He believes that Whole Person Education is crucial to preparing the students to be able to face all the challenges that are caused by the current happenings, to solve problems, to reason, and to effectively use opportunities in life.

Ms. Sisoury Phommaseng

Ms. Sisoury Phommaseng is an English Lecturer and Head of the Journal Management Division at Souphanouvong University. She holds a master’s degree in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Her expertise encompasses English language teaching, curriculum innovation, and academic development. Her research examines student motivation in English learning and educational barriers affecting ethnic minority students in Lao PDR. Committed to academic and gender equality, she mentors female students through leadership initiatives, entrepreneurship programs, and active service in the Women’s Union Committee. Additionally, she specializes in soft skills development and multicultural education, designing inclusive curricula that address diverse learning needs and promote equitable learning environments. She is dedicated to continuous professional growth and the application of innovative pedagogical approaches. Her research interests include social development, inclusive education, English proficiency, and women’s studies, aiming to empower students for sustainable academic and professional success.

Dr. Faustina Joan S P is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stella Maris College, Chennai, India. She is passionate about thoughtfully integrating technology in higher education to enhance teaching and learning. She serves as a Core Member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and has contributed to institutional initiatives, including the development of an Artificial Intelligence framework for learning and assessment. Faustina is actively involved in facilitating learners and peers through workshops and faculty development programmes on technology, digital ethics, and innovative pedagogy. She is also a founding core group member of the Star of the Sea Group, an important part of the Campus Ministry that nurtures students’ spiritual and personal growth. Through the United Board Fellows Program, she hopes to strengthen her leadership competencies and explore responsible approaches to integrating emerging technologies in higher education.

Dr. Yakob Metboki is a national certified lecturer with a rich background in English Language Teaching (ELT). After completing his bachelor and master’s studies in English Education, he continued to hold a Doctorate in English Language Teaching from Assumption University in Thailand. He has held several key roles at Artha Wacana Christian University, including Head of the English Education Study Program and Partnership Manager of the SDGs Center. His extensive experience in training pre-service English teachers and coordinating community service programs has mapped out his teaching frameworks and planning for sustainable programs. He is an active researcher, with numerous publications on topics, addressing enhancing intercultural communicative competence, empowering student writing skills, and designing digital learning materials. His contributed opinion has been pieced into local newspapers and completed several community development grants.

Dr. Femina Sobin is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany and Microbiology at St. Aloysius' College, Jabalpur, India. She has a Ph.D. in Cellulase and Chitinase Activity of Fungal Pathogens of Edible Mushrooms of Jabalpur. Besides teaching responsibilities, she serves as the Academic Coordinator (Biosciences), Coordinator of the Design Innovation Centre and Coordinator of the Institute’s Innovation Council. Beyond academics, she contributes to faith formation at Divine Mercy Church, serving as the Catechism Headmistress and a Parish Council Member. She has completed international courses under UBCHIA including Whole Person Education Academy 2025, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines and Whole Person Education Training, Asian University for Women, Bangladesh. Through the United Board Fellow Program, she aspires to deepen her understanding of Whole Person Education, strengthen transformative leadership practices, build meaningful collaborations that enrich her institution and contribute to the larger educational community.

Dr. Tae Seob Shin is a Professor of Educational Psychology and Director of the Center for Future Education Research at Ewha Womans University, South Korea. He previously served as Associate Vice President of the Office of Planning and Coordination and as Deputy Director of the Institute of School Violence Prevention at Ewha Womans University. Dr. Shin earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from Michigan State University. His research focuses on social and emotional learning (SEL), motivation, and digital citizenship, with an emphasis on developing and evaluating educational programs that support students’ social, emotional, and digital competencies. His recent work explores the integration of SEL, digital citizenship, and AI literacy to promote student well-being and future readiness in a rapidly changing digital society.
